Defining Dementia

Seafarers Hospital Society are running 3 webinars to raise awareness about dementia based on community feedback. As we learn of more people having to support relatives, friends, or community members with dementia, we want to ensure that you have the information you need to assist your loved ones.

This is a concern that extends beyond the fishing or seafaring community and so is open to any who would wish to attend.

These three sessions, hosted by Carol Elliott, Programme Delivery Manager of the SeaFit Programme, will help you learn how to distinguish between dementia and other issues, such as Alzheimer’s disease, and provide helpful tips to assist you with supporting someone living with dementia.

About Us

Seafarers Hospital Society has been looking after the health and welfare of seafarers and their families since 1821. We provide a range of health services for working and retired seafarers to keep them fit and healthy both while working at sea and in to retirement.

The SeaFit Programme is a joint initiative between the Seafarers Hospital Society and The Fishermen’s Mission, to deliver sustainable improvements in the health and wellbeing of fishers and their families around the United Kingdom.
