FREE, CONFIDENTIAL, IMPARTIAL

SAIL is an advice and information service provided exclusively for seafarers and their dependants. SAIL has been helping working seafarers since 1996

The Seafarers’ Advice and Information Line (SAIL) offers free, confidential and impartial advice and information to working and former UK-based seafarers and their dependants. This now includes Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel. SAIL is run by Greenwich Citizens’ Advice Bureau on behalf of the Seafarers Hospital Society and has been helping seafarers since 1996.

The advisers at SAIL understand the difficulties often faced by people who work at sea and those they leave onshore. They can provide practical help and support in a number of ways.

The team includes a specialist Money Adviser who works with seafarers, their families and dependants to help them manage any money problems, and trains others to provide similar support.

Contact SAIL for advice and information on:

• Debt and other money issues
• Welfare benefits, tax credits, pensions
• Employment
• Housing
• Consumer and legal issues
• Immigration
• Relationship and family issues

SAIL can also provide practical support by:

• Making sure you get any benefits you are entitled to
• Helping with filling in forms
• Negotiating with other agencies
